"Belchertown - Raymond J. Doherty Jr., 88, of Chauncey Walker St., died on September 22, 2013. He was born December 13, 1924 in Springfield, MA, son of Raymond and Mabel (Dubois) Doherty. He proudly served our country in the US Marines during WWII. Raymond worked as a laborer for Northeast Technical Service in Springfield. He was a member of the American Legion and Hope United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Linnea (Grundstrom) Doherty of Belchertown, four children, Lynda Ivey and husband Earl of Clinton, TN, Michael Doherty and wife Nadine of Ft. Meyers, FL, Richard Doherty and wife Karen of Easthampton and James Doherty and wife Silvana of Feeding Hills. He will also be missed by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. A Graveside service will take place on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Main St., in Agawam. Followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church in Belchertown. Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope United Methodist Church or the Belchertown Senior Center. "
