Raymond Gilmore

Raymond Boyd Gilmore, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at his home where he resided with his wife, Janice, in Castle Rock, Colorado. Ray was born at Fitzsimons Army Hospital on November 21, 1951 in Aurora, Colorado to Kenneth Gilmore and Lea (Hopkins) Gilmore and was the oldest of four children. Ray grew up in a variety of places as his father was a career Air Force veteran. Ray briefly attended college before enlisting in the Air Force himself where he proudly served his country for 23 years, from September 1971 until December 1994. He served much of his time as a law enforcement craftsman as well as a technical training instructor, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He was deployed as support personnel during Desert Shield/Storm. He was an expert marksman earning many awards. After retiring from the Air Force, Ray worked in the private sector as a fire alarm technician and security specialist until retiring in 2012. He and his wife, Janice, moved to Castle Rock, Colorado where they enjoyed visits from family and outdoor activities. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Buxkemper) Gilmore; sister, Linda; brothers, Dave (Leah) and Greg (Julie); children, Brian (Ann), Wendy (Del), Jonathan, and stepdaughter, Natalie; along with six grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. There will be a private memorial service to celebrate Ray’s life. The family requests that memorials be made to the hospice of one’s choice. Please sign the guestbook below.
