Raymond H. Grueter

Raymond H. Grueter, 90, of Mesa, AZ died peacefully on August 11, 2024. He was born on February 12, 1934 to Herman and Marie Grueter in Carrollton, IL. He married Marilyn Pruitt in February 1962 and they enjoyed life together for 41 years before her passing in 2003. Ray was remarried to Dolores (Dee) La Brie in Bella Vista, Arkansas in 2006. She preceded him in death in 2021. Ray served honorably in the US Army for 2 years prior to graduating from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville in 1965. He spent 29 years working for McDonnell Douglas at various locations with most of that time in Titusville, FL and Mesa, AZ. He spent 3 years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and retired in 1991 from the McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Company in Mesa, AZ. Ray spent much of his retirement in Florida and Arkansas before returning to Mesa, AZ in 2018. Ray had 8 siblings, all of whom are deceased except his sister, Sister Margaret Grueter of Springfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Susan Lynn Grueter and his son, Stephen Ray Grueter. Ray is survived by his daughter Shannon Hubbard of Mesa, AZ as well as 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren in Florida and Arizona. His favorite pastimes were golf, family and traveling. A memorial will be held for Ray in Springfield, IL on September 29, followed by his burial on October 5 at 10:30am at Brevard Memorial Park in Cocoa, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities.
