"Palmer- Raymond J. Hebert, 89, 0f Pine St. passed away August 31, 2006. Born in Nashua, NH, December 5, 1916 and has lived in the Monson and Palmer area for most of his life. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army and was awarded the purple heart. He was a member of the Amvets Post in Three Rivers. He retired after 20 years from Jersey Testing Laboratories and was previously a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger. In the past, he enjoyed golf, woodworking, gardening, and cooking for his family, church and town functions. He was predeceased by his wife Lois (Blakeslee) in 1993 and a daughter Barbara Hebert in 2002. He will be missed by his daughter Marilynn Cole of Thorndike, along with his four grandchildren Laura Yarbrough, Sarah Rollet, Kimberly Fortune, and Kenneth Cole. He also leaves eight great grandchildren, Nick, Joey, Sam, Abby, Maggie, Tommy, Meaghan, and Nathan and his furry companion, his cat Mitzy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by burial in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 5 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. For those wishing donations may be made in his memory to MSPCA, 171 Union St., Springfield, MA 01105. "
