The family migrated between Arizona and Idaho for many years while he worked in the seasonal farm labor industry, retiring in 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, and a brother; a son Raymond Jr.; two daughters, Maria Hernandez and Jenny Hernandez; and a granddaughter Mary Jane Salinas.
