Raymond J. Morin was transcended into eternal rest on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Wing Memorial Hospital with his loving family by is side. He was born the son of Emile and Mary Morin on March 22,1921 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Raymond was a bright energetic young man. At the age of 16 he joined the CCC 's helping to develop and preserve the nation's natural resources. When he turned 18 he joined the U.S.Army and was deployed and engaged in World War II. He served in the Big Red 1 unit. He was a cannoneer with Battery D 5th battalion. He served from 1939 to 1945. He served under General Patton in South Africa and stormed the beaches of Normandy. He received a victory medal, a citation, a campaign ribbon with 4 stars and an American defense service ribbon. Raymond had a zest for life. He and Alice loved fishing, boating, camping,singing and most of all children. Raymond was predeceased by his parents, by his loving wife Alice of 50 years and 3 sisters and 1 brother. He is survived by his son Steve Morin of Springfield and daughters Marjorie Robblee (Kevin) of Palmer and Betsy Yanczewski (Robert) of Florida, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was interred at the Agawam Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, May 20th, 2020, with his wife's cremated remains in his arms. Arrangements were respectfully and expediently carried out by the Beer & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Raymond and Alice loved the Lord and were members of Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam. Pastor Steven prayed for the couple in an online prayer service. Raymond will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
