Raymond F. Racicot
August 17th, 1934 - March 27th, 2024
Granby - Raymond "Ray" F. Racicot, 89, passed away March 27, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 17, 1934, in Holyoke, MA to Fernand and Irene (Page) Racicot. He graduated high school from Holy Cross in Holyoke, MA. Ray served his country in the National Guard and Reserve Corps from 1952-1958. He has lived in Granby for 58 years and previously lived in Chicopee. In his earlier years, he worked for A&P Tea Company as a buyer and supervisor. He then owned Ray's Foods in Easthampton and later Ray's Butcher Shop in Granby for 20 years. Ray recently retired after holding the position of treasurer for 25 years of the Belchertown Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed bowling and was on many bowling leagues in the area. He also loved to camp in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Claire Y. (DeMorris) of Granby, three daughters, Deborah Lariviere (Verne) of Huntington, Donna Poli (William) of South Hadley and Gail Lukasik (John) of Granby. He will also be missed by a sister, Connie Early, a brother, Edward Racicot, daughter-in-law Linda Racicot, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Gary Racicot and a brother, Robert Racicot. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd from 10:00am-12:00pm, followed by a closing remembrance service at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donation in his memory to Holyoke VNA & Hospice 575 Beech St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
