Raymond John Sittauer
August 14th, 1925 - July 14th, 2014
Raymond John Sittauer, age 88 of Edmonds, WA passed away peacefully at his home on July 14, 2014. He was born in Sykeston, ND on August 14, 1925 to Harry and Freda (Wild) Sittauer. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and proudly served his country for 3 years earning his Purple Heart he has on display. On June 20, 1950 he married his loving wife, Dorothy (Lessner). They made the decision to move to more opportunity so came to Edmonds in 1957. Ray soon became a business man first opening Rays Hobby Shop, Rays Slot Track, then Rays Upholstery for over 25 years. He was Chairman on the Edmonds Planning Commission in 1979. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy; having been a wonde father, he is also survived by his 6 children: Larry, Steven (Teri), John (Dawn), Paul (Jennifer), David (Greta) and Jean (Fred Gouge); his grandchildren: Ryan, Aaron, Annie, Rosie, Justin, Evan, Samantha, Olivia, Drew, and Jack Sittauer, and Eric and Brian Gouge; step grandchildren: Britt (Brian) Hutchinson, Hollie, Jenna, and Sonja Ekornas; great grandchild, Isaiah Sittauer; and step great grandchildren, Violet Hutchinson and Brayden Blosser. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carrie Sittauer. His only brother Harry Bud Sittauer died a year before on the same day July 14, 2013. Ray was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 57 years a dedicated usher until recently. A Rosary will be said at 4pm on Sunday, July 20, 2014, with a Funeral Mass at 11am on Monday, July 21, 2014; both at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 630 7 Avenue N, in Edmonds. A Private Committal Service will be held at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Holy Rosary Parish School Endowment, P.O. Box 206, Edmonds, WA 98020; or Child Strive (Little Red School House), 14 E Casino Road, Everett, WA 98208.
