November 3rd, 1930 - February 2nd, 2020
RC Grundy 89, passed away peacefully February 02, 2020 with family by his side. RC was born November 3rd 1930 in Slayton Texas the son of Ralph and Lillie Grundy. They moved to Portland Oregon in 1943. RC enlisted in the Army when he was 14. After his time in the service he married Margaret Rom and they settled in Portland Oregon where they raised their family. They celebrated 65 years of marriage. RC kept active with volunteering at St. Vincent’s DePaul, always willing to help when needed. When not volunteering you could find him working around his house on their property. He found driving his tractor relaxing but he really enjoyed it when he was giving the grandchildren rides on it. They lived at the coast until they moved back to Portland in 2013 to be closer to family. RC enjoyed life to the fullest. He coached Little League & Babe Ruth baseball for many years. He enjoyed his yearly hunting and fishing trips with his family and best friends. He enjoyed weekends at the coast with family fishing, crabbing and clam digging. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret. Surviving is his children Barbara Achatz (Craig), Robert Grundy, Susan Welborn ( Mark), Katherine Hunt ( Jim), Linda Fleming ( Ted) and Mary Gump (Bill), seventeen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.
