Brusie Funeral Home
Rebecca McCann
January 1st, 2001
Our sweet mother, Becky went to be with her Heavenly Father on Oct. 15, 2011. We were so fortunate to have had her with us until she was 92 years old. Becky was born Oct. 12, 1919 in Dodge City, Kansas to Charlie and Ethel Courtney, and was one of seven children. The family moved to Paradise, CA in 1936, where they operated an apple orchard. While Becky was working at Price's Candy at 2nd and Broadway in Chico, she met her first husband, Bill Mathews. Bill was a lifeguard at One Mile Dam, a professional wrestler, and eventually a Chico Policeman. They married in August 1940 and had three daughters, Sue (Tom) Dauterman, Nan (Jim, Sr) Pool, and Kim (Tom) White. Becky worked at Bedford's Jewelry, Cox's Jewelry, Osers, JC Penney's, CSUD Business Ofice and North State Prehung Doors. Becky married Doug McCann in 1971 and he died in 1994. Becky is survived by her three daughters; grandchildren, Terri (Ronn) Van Dusen, Jim Pool Jr., Traci Needles, TJ and Danny White; great-grandchildren, Ryonn, Jenni and Joey Van Dusen, Alex and Erica Pool, Grant Needles, and Henri Kartheisher, and her sister, Belle Steiff, all of Chico, as well as many nieces and nephews. Becky was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stephen and Jodi Dauterman; former husbands, Bill Mathews and Doug McCann; her parents and her sisters, Charlene and Teen, and brothers, John, Dick, and Raliegh. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wind Chimes of Chico for the loving care they gave our mother. We will miss you Mom. We love you and look forward to when we will be together again in Heaven. There will be a private family service and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity .
