Rebecca Sims
January 5th, 1957 - March 10th, 2024
Rebecca M. Sims, 67, passed away on March 10, 2024, following an 11-year battle with ovarian cancer. Mrs. Sims was born to the late George Mann and Reba Mann on January 5, 1957, in Lexington, Ky. She worked as a dental lab technician at the UK College of Dentistry for 33 years. Rebecca loved UK football and basketball. She also loved cooking, gardening, and sewing. She was a lifelong member of Southland Christian Church. Mrs. Sims is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Stephen P. Sims. Her children, Calvin Townsend, Jr. (Grace), Christopher Townsend (Yuri), and Caleigh Moore (Brian). Her stepchildren, Shelley S. Volpenhein (Tim), Holly Jo Sims-Bruno (Michael), Jenna L. Meadows (Brandon), her siblings, Carolyn Johnson, Susan Stillwagon (Bruce) and Curt Mann (Christine). Her stepmom Brenda Mann, and 11 grandchildren. Our family is grateful to the Markey Cancer Center, especially Dr. Lauren Baldwin and her team, for caring for Rebecca. They are wonderful people that we are now connected to for life.
