Reed Allen Mohrman
December 15th, 1958 - April 21st, 2024
Reed Mohrman (65) passed unexpectedly at his home on April 21, 2024. Family and friends already so miss him.
Reed was born in Columbus, NE in 1958 to Gus and Bernice (Albers) Mohrman. Together with his parents, older brother Greg, and little sister Tammy, he moved to Greeley, CO in 1963.
He graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1977 and from The University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry.
He had a natural aptitude for electronics, was forever fascinated with how things worked, built numerous machines, and could repair almost any device. He began his career in retail sales but discovered his niche in corporate information technology services where he was a natural at navigating operating systems and several programming languages.
His expertise was highly regarded by employers and customers, having received numerous awards and letters of appreciation. He used this expertise adeptly in his career, but also served as the resident “help desk” to his family and friends, who relied on his knowledge for troubleshooting computer software and hardware.
Reed continued to pursue his interest in the sciences through his various hobbies, including home brewing (root beer and wine), cooking, baking, growing orchids and making jewelry. Reed had an uncanny ability to resurrect houseplants from their deathbeds and regularly took in ailing family plants.
His dry sense of humor and quick wit was accompanied by enjoying friendly banter with his loved ones. A beloved uncle, his nieces and nephews never knew what sort of fun surprise he would find for them, especially at Christmastime. Reed delighted in finding unique treasures and foods to share with others.
Reed was a man of few words, reserved, and fiercely protective of those he loved. He accepted Christ as his Savior when he was young, was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church and now joins his parents, in God’s presence. He leaves behind his siblings: Greg (Alison) Mohrman and Tammy Leafgren; nieces and nephews Lindsay (Ken) Broermann, Tyler (Mary Beth) Mohrman, Amanda (Dwight) Easterly, Eric Leafgren, and 6 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews.
A private family service is planned for later this year.
