Regina F. Edwards
August 5th, 1940 - March 9th, 2014
Regina (a.k.a. Gina and Jeannie) Edwards, 73, of Cocoa Beach, passed away at home peacefully in her sleep with her loving husband and brother, Gerard at her side. The former Regina Foley, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the youngest of six children. She attended Our Lady of Angels Elementary School, St. Brendan's High School, and was a 1962 graduate of St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn. Gina was a loving and enthusiastic teacher, who taught elementary schools, both locally and in Aurora, Colorado. After teaching in Colorado, she spent two years working as a social worker for the US Army in France. Upon her return from France, she continued teaching in various elementary schools in Melbourne(Ascension Catholic School), Sanford, and Cape Canaveral (Cape View). From 1972 to 1988, Gina taught at the Brevard County Association for Retarded Citizens in Rockledge, where she concluded her teaching career. On December 10, 1980, she married Carlton Edwards at Our Saviour's Catholic Church, in the Nun's Chapel where she has been a parishioner. Gina is survived by her husband, Carlton F. Edwards, two brothers, John Foley of Michigan, Gerard Foley of New Jersey, sister, Joan Foley Hubert of New Jersey, and many nieces and nephews. Gina was a people person and will be remembered as the lady that greeted all with a beaming smile. She will be missed and remembered by all those who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 12th at Church of Our Saviour in Cocoa Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Make a Wish Foundation or the Hospice of St. Francis. Please, no flowers, only happy thoughts and prayers.
