Miss Reina Tavarez, 36, of James St. in Amsterdam, a resident of Liberty Enterprises, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday September 2, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. Born in the Dominican Republic on December 28, 1971 the daughter of Amable Tavarez and Cecilia Hernandez. She was a participant in the Liberty Day Treatment program and lived in an independent home for over 15 years. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Survivors include her mother, Cecilia Hernandez of Winter Haven Florida. Siblings, Jacqueline Tavarez and Louis Nunez. A step-brother, Abel Santana of Florida. Cousins in New York City, Florida and the Dominican Republic. She is also survived by her home caregivers, Minerva and David Ortiz of Amsterdam and housemate June Pomper. Reina also leaves behind her extended family and caregivers of Liberty Ent. She will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Friday Today September 5th, 2008 at 1:30P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY with Father Pascal "Pat" Iannotti presiding. Local calling hours are private. Services will also be taking place in Miami Lakes Florida at the Vista Memorial Garden and Funeral Home, 14200 57th Ave, Miami Lakes, Florida 33014. Interment will be in the Vista Memorial Garden Cemetery in Florida. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
