Rena F. Abbate

"Palmer- Rena Abbate, a lifelong resident of Palmer, died Friday, January 11, 2008, at Wingate at Wilbraham. Born October 29, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Amelia (Micheli) Cordiali. Rena was a graduate of Palmer High School, class of 1931. She was the co-owner with James Russo, of the Villanova Restaurant of Palmer for 26 years and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for 44 years. Rena was an avid cook, reader and card game player. She is survived by her son, Charles and his wife Teresa of Palmer, and another son Louis E. Abbate and his wife Kathy of Longmeadow. Rena is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher, Charles and his wife Clair, Jessica, Benjamin, and Jonathan Abbate, and a great grandchild Carlie Rena. She also leaves a loving niece Carole LaVallie of Palmer and her children; Caron and Michael Guigli, Edward and Lynn LaVallie, and Patricia and Gary Calligaro. Rena was predeceased by her husband Louis E. Abbate, her sister Esther Ricci, and her brother Leo Cordiali. At the request of the family, there are no calling hours and all services are private. Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ronald J.
