Rev. Clifton Odell Thompson, 75, of Cayce, SC went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2022. Clif was born to George Washington and Lou Addie Williams Thompson on March 6, 1947 in Georgetown County, SC. Clif is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Violet Blackwell, Leila Buhrman, and Katie Nikolakakos; and his brother, Oley Thompson. Clif Thompson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen M. Thompson; his daughter, Jennifer Thompson; his son, Seth (Stephanie) Thompson and their 4 children, Landon, Parker, Amelia, and Bennett; and his son Micah (Ashley) Thompson and their 3 children, Graham, Hudson, and Grayson; his Godson, Matt Wooten and his family; and his brothers, George Thompson and Frank Thompson. Clif dedicated his life to his ministry. He was licensed to preach by Calvary Baptist Church on Sep. 14, 1986 and became a commissioned missionary on Mar 15, 2015. Rev. Thompson started “Trail of Blood” Ministries after years of serving as a preacher, Sunday school teacher, and jailhouse evangelist. He felt called to preach many years ago while attending a Baptist Church in South Congaree. In 1984, he took that calling to the next level by working through various chaplains at the Columbia Richland County Detention Center where he began preaching and sharing the Gospel every Sunday afternoon for 15 years. He then served as a chaplain for Agape Senior Care for 11 years. He founded Trail of Blood Ministries as a means to distribute the book, “Trail of Blood'' to believers and churches all across the United States having distributed over 40,000 copies nationwide. Clif also served his country honorably in Vietnam. A funeral service will be held for Clif Thompson on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 3pm at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Rd. Lexington, SC. Visitation will begin at 2pm prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd. Lexington, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Lighthouse for Life, 7320 Broad River Rd. Columbia, SC, [email protected].
