Reverend Gilles Albert Belec, age 75 of Columbia, SC passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020. Rev. Belec was born September 18, 1945 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of the late Pierre and Rita Belec. Rev Belec was the pastor of Calvary Community Church of Greater Columbia and served as the Bishop of the Communion of Evangelical Christian Ministers and Churches. He dedicated over fifty years of his life to the service of our Lord. Rev. Belec was also an author and recording artist in both French and English. His life exemplified Godly love and compassion. Rev. Belec is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Price Belec of Columbia, SC; his associate pastor and son Rev. Stephan Belec and his wife Sharon of Lexington, SC; their children, Jamison and Jocelyn Belec of Lexington, SC; eleven other grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his brothers, Peter Belec and his wife, Pat of Mount Pleasant, SC and Claude Belec and his wife, Helen of Canada; sisters, Lise Simmons and her husband Ken of Canada, Carole Maltby and her husband Mike of Canada and Lorraine Perotte and her husband Julien of Canada; his uncle, Sam LeCompte and wife Jose of Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Woodridge Memorial Park, Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC. Memorials may be made to Calvary Community Church, 4045 Calvary Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
