Randolph “Randy” Lanon Ray, 71, of Lexington, SC, died from complications of Covid and Lewy Body Dementia, on December 24, 2023. He was born in Lancaster, SC, on September 22, 1952, to Robert Harvey Ray and Evelyn Furr Ray; he was the youngest of three sons. Randy attended Lancaster schools before studying journalism and broadcasting at the University of South Carolina. He went to work at WIS radio; served the Lord at Three Rivers Baptist Church; pastored a start-up church in Blythewood, SC; and worked as the IT engineer for Mashburn Construction, Columbia, SC, where he worked until he retired. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Richard Larry Ray. He is survived by his wife, Susan Ray, and his children, Ryan Patrick Ray (Maria Fackler) and Robin Ray Baber (John) who meant the world to him. He is survived by his step children, Jon Randall Anderson (Rhonda) and Rebecca Sue Anderson; his brother, Ronald Lewis Ray (Jodie) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2:00pm at Trinity Baptist Church Cayce, 2003 Charleston Highway, Cayce, South Carolina 29033. A visitation will follow the service.
