Reyna Benito passed away in her sleep on February 6, 2021 at Hospice Care in St. Petersburg, FL. She was 39 years old. She had been battling Uterine cancer since the beginning of 2019. Born in Baytown, TX on September 7th, 1981 to Maria Leonor Benito and Domingo Benito Martinez. Reyna and her family moved to Bradenton, FL, where she spent most of her childhood and eventually settling in St. Petersburg, FL, where she called home. Reyna was strong, courageous, selfless, and beautiful with an infectious smile. Everyone just gravitated towards her. She was known by many and loved by everyone. Her love for life, family, friends, and animals alike, was unconditional. Her nieces and nephews saw her as a second mother. Reyna’s greatest accomplishment came in 2009 when she adopted her son, D.J.. Reyna’s transition into motherhood was transformational. She fell in love immediately, pouring every ounce of her life into her new role. She was heavily involved in his education, extracurricular activities, and was a fierce advocate for Autism awareness. Reyna will be missed dearly by her family and friends, but they are comforted knowing she has earned her wings to heaven. Reyna is survived by her son, D.J., mother, Maria L. Benito, father, Domingo Benito, and her five siblings, Maria Atkinson, Chris Benito, Robert Benito, Ricky Benito, and Esperanza Benito.
