Reynaldo Silva Ortiz
September 6th, 1938 - June 11th, 2022
Reynaldo “ Rey ” Silva Ortiz was born in Santa Maria , Texas on Sept. 6, 1938 to Alfonso Ortiz and Micaela Solis Silva . He has spent the last 61 years living in the Salinas Valley. He’s enjoyed his community of friends in Gonzales and Salinas. He loved spending time with his Sisters, Children and Grandchildren. He enjoyed frequently cruising from Salinas to Gonzales to visit family and friends. He enjoyed his coffee and watching tv. in his younger years he stayed active by exercising and lifted weights to stay strong. He will be missed but never forgotten by those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a big family with numerous nieces and nephews. Reynaldo “Rey” Silva Ortiz was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Jackson Ortiz, Daughter Virginia Ortiz Flores, Brothers: Manuel Leal, Raul Leal, Oscar Escobedo and sisters Amelia Ramon, Angie Ortiz, Ema Torres, Delia O. Longoria and his Granddaughter Dominique Gachett. Rey is survived by his children Melvin Jackson ( Linda ), Angie Ortiz, Gloria Ortiz (Troy Gachett), Micaela Ortiz (Tony Landa), Son in Law (Jose “Pepe” Flores). Grandchildren: Damian Jackson, Daniel Jackson (Ida), Rita Salas, Rudy Salas JR., Regina Salas (Ernesto), Rachelle Salas (Chris), Michael Ortiz (Xochitll), Andrea Gachett (William), Demetris Gachett, Antoinette Gachett, Nicole Landa, Jessica Landa (Ashley), Raymond Flores (Merissa), Robert Flores (Lorie), Brenda Flores, Richard Flores. Visitation will be held at the Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas, Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 1 - 7 PM A Prayer Service will be held at the Mortuary Tuesday at 4:00 PM. A Rosary will be said at St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Gonzales, Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Following the Rosary, a Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at the Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Gonzales Community Cemetery, Gonzales, CA.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
