Rhea T. Hansen
June 19th, 1923 - March 30th, 2015
Rhea Thayne Hansen, 88, passed away peacefully March 30, 2015 in Ogden, Utah. She was born June 19, 1926 in Annis, Idaho to Albert J. Thayne and Jennie Mae Ellis Thayne. She was the sixth of seven children. She moved to Tacoma when she was a young girl, and graduated from Puyallup High School in 1945. Rhea married Calvin DeLoy Hansen January 9, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death in 2000. Her family and love for her Savior was the focus of her life. Rhea had a productive and happy life, and loved to spend time with family and friends. She was a hard worker, and taught her children the value of work. She was active in the community and PTA through the years, and was a lifelong member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, and served in various callings throughout her life, but her time as a seminary teacher working with the youth was one of her favorites. She was a young missionary in the Texas-Louisiana Mission, and served with DeLoy later in the Corpus Christi Texas Mission. They also served in the Tacoma Asian LDS Branch, and on the Tacoma Interfaith Council. She is survived by five children, Scott (Pam), Kimberly (Randy), Renee (Dennis), Sheridan (William), and Leslie (Mike), 23 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband DeLoy, son Thayne, and grandson Jarom Larson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015, at 1:00 pm at the Mountain View Ward, 7520 25th Ave. East, Tacoma, Washington 98404. Family will meet friends one hour prior to services from 11:30 to 12:30 pm. Interment will be held at the New Tacoma Cemetery, Tacoma, Washington.
