Ricardo U. Ortiz

ORTIZ, Ricardo U., 88, of Lutz, Fla., passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was born in Concan, TX, raised in Uvalde, TX and moved to Tampa in 1962. Ricardo was a U. S. Air Force Veteran and served during WWII, the Korean and Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raphael and Ladislada Ortiz; wife, Ruby M. Ortiz; daughter, Dorothy Townsend McMurry; grandson, Christopher Ortiz and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Richard Ortiz and his wife, Sheila of Lutz, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Sharon Ortiz of San Antonio, TX; brother, Roque Ortiz; sister, Julia Gonzalez both of Texas; seven grandchildren, Michael and David Townsend and Evan, Erin, Gregory, Timothy and Jeffery Ortiz. A committal service with full military honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Loyless Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or your local animal shelter.
