Riccardo "Rick" Cassata 77, of Phoenix died January 11, 2024. Rick was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Phoenix as a young boy, where he continued his education and graduated from Cortez High School. Rick worked in retail many years for Van's Pro Shop, Van's California Daze and Home Depot. He considered his co-workers and customers friends, always keeping such a close rapport that many of them would come in specifically to see him. He loved coming home to recount who he saw each time. Rick considered himself a proud Phoenician and loved sharing his knowledge of history (especially local) and reminiscing about times from the past. He enjoyed being creative and found great pleasure in all the DIY projects he was able to do for himself and help others with. He also loved gardening and traveling, especially the trips he took to Northern Arizona and Hawaii with family. Rick will always hold a special place in the hearts and memories of his family, friends and all those lives he touched. He was always one who chose to look at the good in life, regardless of personal adversity. He instead preferred to stay focused on thinking of others and helping them whenever he could. He will forever be remembered as a loving devoted husband to his wife Marti, who he is now reunited with again and to his children Christi and Corey as their fun-loving, always supportive, beloved Dad. His passing has also been felt by his two dogs, who miss his daily presence and affection. Rick is survived by his daughter Christina Cassata, son John C. Cassata, dear sister and lifelong encouraging best friend Angie Bocchini, his kind and caring brother and sister-in-law Wayne & Marilu Pomeroy, aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews (that he loved like his own) and cousins. He will also surely be missed for the considerate giving friend, colleague and neighbor that he was. A private family viewing has already been held. No other services are planned. Rick's family are accepting condolences / flowers directly, but would especially appreciate and feel heartened to receive your shared memories here in tribute of him.
