Richard Arnie Amundsen Richard (Dick) Amundsen passed away on June 11, 2015, surrounded by his family at the age of 84. He was born December 20, 1930, in Tacoma, Washington. He attended Lincoln High School where he withdrew and joined the Army Air Corp in January of 1947. He was discharged the following May and went to work for a construction company in eastern Washington. After the beginning of the Korean War he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving in the United States and Korea. After his discharge he married Charlotte (Pat) Marie Kallam. Richard became a police officer for the City of Tacoma, holding all ranks until retiring as Chief of Police in 1982 serving 27 years on the force. He then went to work for the Town of Steilacoom, Washington as the Director of Public Safety for 10 years, retiring in 1992. He finished off his career as Head of Security for the Puyallup Fair for many years. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends at local casinos and playing with his many grandchildren. He loved genealogy and spent years tracing his and his wife’s family back several centuries. Richard leaves behind his loving wife Pat, his sons Richard (Sandy), Dennis (Tracey), David (Vicki), Daniel (Dian), and his daughter Kim. They have 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all those who have expressed their sympathy and condolences. A private service will held in his remembrance of him. Remembrances can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
