My Life Story After 79 years of fun filled adventures, love and laughter, our beloved husband, father, brother and grandpa, Richard G. Baker, was lifted up into heaven by the loving arms of Jesus. Richard passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at his home in Star. He was born November 21, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas to Forrest Elmo and Ruth Marie Baker. He married Lynn Baker on May 23, 1964 in Reno, Nevada and renewed his vows with Lynn on May 23, 2002 at Big Valley Grace Church in Modesto, California. Richard started roofing with his dad at a very young age and eventually began his own roofing company, ABC Roofing, that he successfully ran for about 20 years. He was a hardworking man and provided well for his family. Richard lived life to the fullest, enjoying hobbies such as painting, gardening, boating, camping, water skiing, playing games and making music with his guitar and keyboard. He also truly loved spending time with his family and close friends. All who knew Richard will remember him for his artistic abilities, joking nature, love of the outdoors, music and the Lord. He became a Christian in 1997, an experience he shared in unison with his loving wife, Lynn. After moving around a lot as a child, he settled with his family in Modesto, California where he resided for most of his life. In 2006, he and his wife Lynn moved to Star, Idaho to be close to their grandchildren, who had moved there about a year earlier. Idaho was the perfect place for Richard to live, due to his love of all things potatoes. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; sisters: Mary Vanderburg and Reta Shelton; children: Sandy Seward, Michelle Baker-Steed, Richie Baker and Kathy Whitney; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his sister, Pam Little; brother, Bobby Baker; and granddaughter Alexandra “Missy” Rae French. He will be deeply missed by us all, until God calls us home to be with him. Please join us in celebrating Richard's life on Saturday, March 16th at 11:00 AM at Eagle Christian Church, at 100 Short Lane, in Eagle. The service will be officiated by Mark Post, a close friend of the family, neighbor and pastor. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to your preferred cancer research organization. Remembrances may be left for the family on Richard's webpage at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the care of Accent Funeral Home and Cremation, Meridian. *Please see "Service Information" tab for service details. *

We Entrusted Richard Baker's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
