Richard Andrew Bergh
June 18th, 1936 - June 18th, 2012
Richard Andrew Bergh, 76, of Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam, formerly of Guy St., passed away Monday June 18, 2012 on his 76th Birthday following a long illness. Born in Cobleskill, NY on June 18. 1936 a son of the late Abraham and Mary Teabout Bergh. Richard was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School. Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. After his military service he began work as a Truck Driver and was employed by the former Mingo's Moving Co. in Amsterdam. Mr. Bergh worked in various mills and industries in Amsterdam throughout his career. He was employed for Mohasco, Coleco and Hasbro retiring in 2000. He was of the Christian Faith. He enjoyed playing darts and pool and was involved in various leagues here in the city. Richard also enjoyed the outdoors especially when hunting and fishing. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Bergh of Amsterdam and Marsha Buckman of Syracuse. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mr. Bergh was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Isabel and George Bergh. A Graveside funeral service will be held on Friday June 22, 2012 at 3:00P.M. at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam with full military honors. There are no calling hours.
