Mr. Boswell, of Charlotte, NC died on March 3, 2015 at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center. He was born on October 21, 1943 in Charlotte, NC. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Kay Kissiah Boswell; five children, Richard Scott Boswell, William Todd Boswell, Stephanie Jane Boswell, Shane Monroe Boswell and Kori Boswell Baber and her husband, Casey Baber, Jr; five grandchildren, Heather Locklear, Cody Boswell, Tyler Foight, Casey Baber, III (Tripp) and Karsyn Baber; and his brothers, Ken Boswell, Joe Boswell and his wife, Carol. Mr. Boswell was preceded in death by his father, Frank Cornelius Boswell and mother, Judy Fuquay; and a brother Pete Boswell. Rick lived in Charlotte all of his life and graduated from Harding High School in 1962. He then attended CPCC for Electrical Trade. He was an electrician for most of his career later becoming a transportation specialist for PAL. His real passion was for cars, "Hot Rods." He would often be found under the hood of a car or truck he was restoring or on the track at Shuffle Town Drag Way. He spent a lot of his free time with his sons, Todd and Shane and grandson Tripp at events for cars, race shows, etc… In his later years, he took on the role of caregiver for his wife Kay. He loved her dearly. They were together for 45 years, married for 43 and for the last 22 years both retired on diability and side by side day after day. He was a great man, influential to so many, sharing his passion for cars with his son and his friends. His son's friends have often been heard saying, I don't know where I would have ended up had it not been for Rick's influence; giving them a hobby to keep them out of trouble. He and his grandson Tripp were very close. Rick taught him about cars, how to haggle at a pawn shop and how to be a respectful young man. Rick loved a great deal, to collect things, to repair/fix things and he was an avid reader. He loved to give, enjoyed finding the perfect gift for everyone at Christmas and on birthdays; and he loved he loved his family very much. He was a great friend to man, he was a loving husband, father, great-grandfather and he will be missed by all. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 9, 2015 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.
