Richard G. Bruno
September 9th, 1931 - February 5th, 2018
Richard G. Bruno passed away on February 5, 2018 in Snohomish, Washington. Richard was born in Seattle to Phillip and Riana Bruno on September 9, 1931. He grew up in South Park where he and his brothers worked on their uncle’s farm producing goods to sell at Pike Place Market. Richard was a Ballard Beaver and graduated in 1950 from Ballard High School. After High School he went on to join the Navy and was a Medical Corpsman with a Marine Division in the Korean War. After returning home he met his future wife of 63 years, Beverly (DeCaro) Bruno who lived across the street from his aunt and uncle’s house. Richard and Beverly had three children together Michael, Victoria and William.. While his children were growing up Richard and Beverly liked to take the family camping and fishing in various places around Washington State. Richard began an over 30 year career with the Seattle Engineering Department working in the Street Division, he attend attended college in the evening and advanced into the Transportation Division as a Traffic Engineer. Richard was later appointed to be the manager of the Truck and Transportation Division where he continued to work until his retirement. A highlight of his time in the Truck and Transportation Division was the biannual weighing of the elephants for the Woodland Park Zoo where he was featured by a local T.V. station with his classic comedic commentary of the weigh in. Richard had many hobbies and interests. Gardening was one of his favorites where he perfected growing some of the best tomatoes in the state. However, his ultimate passion was working in the kitchen where he cooked meals for several Italian Organizations throughout the City of Seattle for many years. Richard’s family was his top priority, he was always either calming a crying baby or offering free medical advice of the many symptoms his family had throughout the years. Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and was the happiest when the family was over and he could cook a meal for everyone. Richard is survived by the love of his life Beverly; brother Eddie Bruno; sister Linda Kennedy; sons Michael (Jolene) and William; daughter Vicki Allen (Bill); grandchildren Kimberly Craig (Jon), Gina Egge (Brian), Stephanie Rogers (TJ), Michelle Hepper (Jake), Jamie Jo Bruno, Josef Bruno and Daniel Bruno; great grandchildren Kilian Craig, Cameron Craig, Olivia Egge, Harper Egge, Charlee Rogers and Ruby Rogers. A Gravesite Ceremony will be held at Holyrood Cemetery on February 10, 2018 at 10:00am followed by a celebration of his life to be held at the Bruno residence.
