Obituary for Richard I. Cole Richard I. Cole, Jr. 93, of Belchertown, MA passed away August 28, 2022 at Western Massachusetts Hospital in Westfield. He was born on March 14, 1929 in Springfield, MA to Richard and Mildred (Sanderson) Cole. He was a lifelong resident of Belchertown and a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Richard was a member of the Vernon Lodge of Masons and was appointed Past Master two times. In his leisure, he enjoyed farming and weaving Nantucket style baskets. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Mildred (Wilson) Cole in 2020 and three siblings, Marion Opielowski, Donald S. Cole and Rodney L. Cole. He is survived by three children, Richard I. Cole, III and his wife Ginette of Belchertown, Robert Cole and his wife Alice of Pelham and Patricia Pickett and her husband Wiley of Rock, MI. He will also be missed by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Beers & Story Belchertown was entrusted with the arrangements and all services are private.
