Conley, Richard W. "Dick" USNRET, 70, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at St. Anthony's Hospital surrounded by family. He was born in 1942 in Danvers, MA where he was raised. He joined the US Navy in 1958 as a Sonar Technician, later converting to Ocean Systems Technician. He served his country honorably for 23 years including the Vietnam War, the Cuban Missile Blockade and he helped introduce passive towed array sonar to the fleet. Richard retired achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He is predeceased by his parents, Roger W. Conley and Lorraine (Conley) Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Elsie (Terry); his sisters, Ann Yodjas & Janice Jones both of St. Petersburg; and his children, Margaret (Pietrini), Christopher Conley (Patricia) of Livermore, CA, & Richard Conley of Peabody, MA; and his grandchildren, Zachary, Brittany, & Sophia. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday (May 23, 2013) at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
