Richard Michael Dopkins
July 15th, 1990 - February 16th, 2021
Obituary Who was Richard Dopkins? He was a handsome, tall, warm, naive, bright, witty, sensitive, hard working, complicated guy. He was a late bloomer, just starting to soar at age 30. He had real talent as a writer and photographer. But his goal was to create a computer gaming app for kids who are lonely and feel the pain of neglect, to feel connected and supported, and to develop a good self image, regardless He was a gourmet cook by hobby. His favorites would satisfy any judging pallet, with his juicy Greek stew, and scrumptious lemon sauce drizzled, blueberry scones. He loved Norm McDonald, Devo, Joy Division, and The Beatles. Richard was studying the Jewish faith with his cousin Rabbi Yosi Aronson of a Israel, by telecommunication. He was living in Loveland, Colorado, his home of 4 years, when he passed. He enjoyed the village of Loveland, and of exploring the beautiful natural sites of his new home state. Richard was a 4th generation Californian. He was born in Stockton California on July 15,1990 at Dameron hospital, and was raised in Modesto. He attended Modesto Christian School, and Beyer High School. He then moved to Sacramento for several years to work, and to help and enjoy the company of his grandmother. He attended Chabab of Sacramento. He inhaled the metropolitan life offered in that city, before his move to Colorado. Richard leaves behind a deeply grieving family: mother Jody Padilla; stepmother Mary Kate Dopkins; sister Alyssa Padilla; grandmother Susie Aronson; grandmother Jocelyn Dopkins; and grandparents Dane and Cindy Baumbgardner. He also leaves: uncle Doug Dopkins (Chris) and cousin Theo; uncle Greg Dopkins and cousins Corrina and John; uncle Eric Dopkins(Tricia)and cousins Claire Elizabeth and Emily Grace; and uncle Jesse Pigorsch (Marlena) and cousin Rylee. Remembered with love by his great aunts and uncles, and cousins, and friends, mourning his passing. Our deepest appreciation to Mike Collaso and Sanman Tung, who taught Richard what true friendship is about! He was preceded in death by his loving father Richard Marshall Dopkins, Jr.; grandfathers Richard Marshall Dopkins, and Kevin Pigorsch; his great grandma Betty Aronson, who so adored him; and many more loving family members who touched his life before passing on. Richard warmly embraced his heritage, his roots, and his family. A private service will be held at Davis Cemetery, Davis, California, when the danger of COVID has passed.
