Richard Drysdale

DRYSDALE, Richard Daniel “Dick,”85, of Tampa, passed away January 12, 2014, at the home of his daughter in the care of Suncoast Hospice. Dick was born in West Palm Beach, graduated from Bolles Military Academy and attended the University of Florida. He was employed by Sun Oil Co. for twenty years, acquiring real estate for the company in the Midwest. His last transfer brought him back to his beloved Florida and he settled in St. Petersburg, where he was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Pasadena Country Club and Seminole Lake Country Club. After achieving sobriety on June 6, 1969, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale and lived on a sailboat and traveled the Caribbean for many years. Dick was involved in AA for forty-four years throughout Florida. Ten years ago, he moved to Tampa where he devoted his time to AA service throughout the Greater Tampa Bay area. Dick is survived by his daughters, Lee Drysdale Newman (George), Lynne Drysdale Patterson (Bruce), grandchildren Tyler and Brooke Newman, brother James (Ann), sister Beth (Pat), nieces and nephews. He was a friend to all who knew him, loved life and gave everything he had to service. Memorial service is Feb. 1, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA Tampa Bay.
