Richard Earl Evans

Obituary Richard E. Evans, 57, Colorado Springs, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in Aurora, Colorado. He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Shelia; his son, Blake; brother, Jon and wife, Linda, Lake Mary, Florida; two nieces, Cortney and Leah; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His father, John, and his in-laws, Charles and Geraldine Hincks, preceded Richard in death. Richard was born February 22, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah and lived in San Diego, Denver, Evergreen and Monument before making his home in Colorado Springs. Richard graduated from Evergreen High School and earned his associate degree of science from Arapahoe Community College and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, international honor society. He worked for Charles Schwab for over 21 years as a technical director. Richard served in many capacities within the Pikes Peak Council of the Boy Scouts of America earning numerous awards, Scouter of the Year, Ute Tribal Award, UBET, District Award of Merit, Council Presidents Award, and the Silver Beaver. Also he served as Shooting Sports Chairman, Assistant Scoutmaster and Quartermaster for the 2010 Jamboree contingent, and staff member of the National Archery staff for Jamboree 2013, as well as in many other leadership and committee positions. An avid mountain climber, Richard climbed 21 fourteeners with his fellow Old Men of the Mountain buddies. Richard also enjoyed hiking, backpacking, whitewater rafting, and snow skiing the great Colorado Rockies. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 26, at St. Paul Catholic Church of Colorado Springs; Msgr. Robert Jaeger will officiate.
