58, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, February 12, 2011. He was born in Havana, Cuba. He graduated from Lakewood High School and the University of South Florida. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on Nuclear Subs, and the U.S. Merchant Marines as a Lt. Commander. He is survived by his parents Bertha and Richard C. Griffin Sr.; sister, Betty Battle; aunt, Julia Griffin; nephew, John Nelson III; cousins, William Griffin, Madeleine Griffin-Cone, Rolando and Doraida Ortega, and Christy Ortega Guarkee; grandnephew, Brody Nelson; and grandniece, Natalie Nelson.
