Richard "Rick" Joseph Hannon
October 23rd, 1936 - September 6th, 2010
Richard Joseph "Rick" Hannon 73, of the Hi-Rise Apartments, Amsterdam, passed away Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in the Bronx, NY on October 23, 1936, the son of the late Charles and Martha Hannon. Rick was educated in New York and worked as a transit driver for the city before he moved to Broadalbin over thirty years ago. He worked for a time at Chalmer's in Amsterdam and lived at the Hi-Rise Apartments. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Broadalbin and was an active member of the Broadalbin Council Knights Of Columbus 2520, and the Fr. Peter Smith Assembly Forth Degree. During the Korean era, Rick served as a private in the US Marine Corps. And was awarded the National Defense Service medal. He is survived by his dear companion of many years, Helena Hartig and her family. Services are Friday at 9:00 am at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street Broadalbin, followed by a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church by Fr. Ron Matulewicz. The Knights Of Columbus will act as honor guard at the Mass. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville. There are no calling hours on Thursday. Contributions may be made in his name to the Montgomery County Office For Aging in care of the funeral home office.
