A graveside service will be held for Richard Wallace Hood, Sr., 92 of Chico, on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. He passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Richard was born October 25, 1917 in Oakland, CA. In 1944 he enlisted in the Army and was a member of Special Services that were training for the invasion of Japan. He then worked for United Centrifugal Pump as a service engineer for 18 years. From 1964 to 1969 he worked for Oasis Oil in Libya, North Africa. Richard was a member of VFW Post 1555 and American Legion Post 17. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lois Hood of Chico; three sons, Richard (Donna) of Chico, Thomas of Chico, Timothy (Susanna) of Gresham, OR; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Brusie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW Honor Guard in care of the funeral home.
