Richard J. King, Jr.
May 8th, 1950 - April 27th, 2020
Richard J. King, Jr. of Sutter Creek, CA went home to our Lord on April 27, 2020. He was born in Morgan City, LA on May 8, 1950 to the late Richard J. King, Sr. and Maxine J. King (née Porter). Rich spent his childhood years in eastern Montana before his father moved the family to California’s Bay Area where he graduated from Newark High School. While working at King Norman’s toy store, he met the love of his life, Debbie, and they married not too long after. They soon decided to move to beautiful Amador County to raise their family. Rich managed a number of convenience stores before venturing into business ownership. Many residents of the county fondly remember him from his store in Pine Grove, where he laughed with people, told them stories, listened to their troubles and helped them for almost twenty-five years. Retirement brought its share of medical challenges but Rich always maintained a positive attitude, knowing that his future was with his Creator. He was active in his church and enjoyed many conversations with friends about the love of Christ. His one wish was for all to hear the promise of salvation. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, his children Katie, Caroline (Caleb) and Ben and his grandchildren Silas and Celia, along with sisters Frieda and Deborah and brother Marshall. Many nieces, nephews and friends in Christ will also miss him greatly. A private family memorial will be scheduled this summer.
