Richard James Kline, 79, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at his home in Nicholasville, KY. He was born September 5, 1942, in Lewistown, PA. He was the son of the late James & Ruth Kline. Richard was a proud graduate of Penn State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining & Engineering in 1965. After graduating, he went on to have a professional career as a Mine Ventilation Engineer, working for both the U.S. Government & Island Creek Coal. His lengthy career spanned over 40 years. In early 2000 he decided to go to back to school to earn his Master of Science in Mine Safety. He attended Marshall University and graduated in 2002. Richard loved sports, cars, bourbon & his family. His favorite teams were Penn State, UK (except when they played Penn State) & the Pittsburgh Steelers. His go to bourbon of choice was Woodford Reserve, although he did enjoy a good Scotch every now & then. He loved classic cars & sports cars, but never had one to call his own, until June 2021 when he finally got his dream car, a C8 Corvette! He was also a hard-working, loving family man who treasured every minute with his family. Richard is survived by his three children; son, James (Nancy) Kline, daughter, Susan (David) Kida and son, Michael (Erika) Kline; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Stuart) Ross, Samantha (Andrew) Murrell, Cassi Kline, Matthew Kline, Allyson Kida, Nathan Kline, Ramona Kline & Andrew Kida; four great-grandchildren, Elsie Eastburn, Henry Ross, Estelle Murrell & Delilah Murrell & his sister, Ruth Ellen Kline. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Rose Marie DeTemple Kline, two brothers, Tom Kline & Harry Kline & his grandson, Joshua James Kline. Visitation will be held at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E Brannon Rd, Nicholasville, KY 40356 on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 6p - 7p.
