Richard "Rich" Joseph McCarthy
May 10th, 1944 - August 20th, 2024
Richard Joseph McCarthy was born May 10th, 1944, to H. Bernice and Dennis McCarthy at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Our sweetheart was called to come home to God 80 years later on August 20, 2024. He was one of the rare and proud Colorado Springs natives having lived here his entire life. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1962. Richard was a mechanical and architectural designer who retired in 2011.
Rich was a Broncos fanatic, an avid fisherman, an airplane enthusiast and an amazing dad. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carole, his son Richard McCarthy II, his daughters Jennifer Olsen and Allison McCarthy-Vernon, his sons-in-law Dan Olsen and Tim Vernon, and his grandchildren, Brittany, Keenan, Kelli, Darren, Trevor, Alec, Tarryn, Kieran, Brenden, and Crimson.
Rich was a phenomenal husband, dad, and papa who will be missed eternally. To know Rich was to love Rich; we are extremely grateful to call him our husband, daddy, and papa.
