Richard A. Meyers

Richard A. Meyers, 52, of Florida Avenue, Amsterdam died unexpectedly Sunday, August 19, 2007. Born in Amsterdam, NY on July 23, 1955 he was the son of James W. Meyers Sr. and Maryland Flynn. He was a lifelong area resident and was a 1973 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mr. Meyers was employed by Longview Fibre Company in Amsterdam. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR. Besides his parents, he is survived by his daughter Jayde Hoffman of Charlotte, NC; his son, Richard A. Meyers Jr. of Amsterdam, NY; his granddaughter, Kyra Hoffman of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Cathy Meyers and her husband Curtis Peninger of Lakewood, CA; two brothers, James Joanne Meyers and Roger Donna Meyers, all of Amsterdam; several aunts, nieces, a nephew, cousins and friends. Richard was predeceased by a brother Joseph S. Meyers. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 12 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with Rev. Dr. John Califano presiding. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
