Richard Francis Monahan, age 88, passed away June 21 in his home in Cocoa Beach, FL. He was born in Queens, NY on June 29 1927 and moved to Cocoa Beach in 1991. Prior to his move he was a member of the Merchant Marines/ Coast Guard during WWII and was in the Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Iron Workers Union in NYC often working on top of the city on skyscrapers. Richard, who was a kind and generous man, had his passions and likes during his life some of which were playing tennis, painting, telling a good story, sweets, and most importantly doting on his daughter Annie for which he was a very devoted and loving Dad. He is predeceased by his wife Patricia Anthony who died in 1979, and is survived by his daughter Annie, half sisters Mary Ann Wood in Port Jefferson Station, NY, Grace Stork in Bayshore, NY, and Claire and her husband Norman Steuer of San Jose, CA. There will be gathering to celebrate his life at Spanish Trace Condominium in Cocoa Beach, 1725 Minutemen Cswy., Cocoa Beach FI, at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 23, 2016.
