Mr. Richard Allen Priest, age 68, of Bleecker Stage, Gloversville, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. He was born March 22, 1946 in Denver, Colorado, the son of the late Lee and Alberta Sparks Priest. He joined the Army at age 17 during the Vietnam War and there received training as a medical technician. He went to college on the GI Bill and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at Colorado State. Richard worked most of his life as a medical technologist. After retiring he was active at home and enjoyed gardening, science fiction and puzzles. His passion for sports was well known to his friends and family. Richard was also passionate about the environment. He was married on August 8, 1990 to Laurie D. Phillips Priest, who survives. He is also survived by three sons: Jeffrey Priest, Stephen Priest and Matthew Priest; a sister, Donna Isbell (Larry) of Brighton, Colorado; two half-sisters: Patricia Shelly of Texas and Verna Priest of Colorado; two nieces: Kandy Wagner and Wendy Dickey and a sister-in-law, Deborah Priest. Richard was predeceased by his brother, Jonathan Priest. The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 21st at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice.
