Richard Wingo Reser

Richard Wingo Reser 79 of Charleston, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. Richard was born to Richard Maurice and Sarah Wingo Reser on January 23rd, 1944 in Bristol, Tennessee. Growing up Richard was involved in scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Georgia Military Academy where he was part of the gun club and campus police. He went on to graduate from Georgia Tech University with a degree in chemistry. After graduating, he served as a police officer in Dekalb County Georgia before working with Michelin Tire Company where he and his wife Carolyn enjoyed living and working abroad in France. He was an avid gardener and took pleasure in taking care of his rose garden and coy pond. Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn and their three children, Thomas Reser of Charleston, South Carolina, Renee Temple (William) of Meridian, Mississippi, and Allyson Ackerman (William) of Summerville, South Carolina. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren Sophia, Caleb, Olivia, Will, Bella, Landon, Josh, Colton, and Reagan. Richard is predeceased by his parents, Richard Maurice and Sarah Wingo Reser and his brother William Reser. Richard’s family will host a Celebration of Life Ceremony on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 12:00pm and visitation preceding at 11:00am. The service will be at Simplicity Funeral Home in Ladson. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Pruitt Health Hospice in Richard’s name.
