May 9th, 1935 - July 11th, 2009
Shelton, Richard L. "Dick" 74, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at home after a short battle with cancer. A native of St. Petersburg, he graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1953. He owned and operated Welding & Supply Company in Pinellas Park for 20 yrs and following later with a partnership for 5 yrs with ESSI, Inc. in Clearwater, FL. He was a member of the St. Pete Yacht Club, American Welding Supply Assoc. and the National Welding Supply Assoc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bertha Shelton, and daughters, Leslie and Sandra. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Gay Shelton; daughter, Tracy December; brother, Ronald Shelton; stepsons, James D. Taylor and John S. Taylor; stepdaughter, Joyce T. Velitschkowski;, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. There will be a Gathering of Friends from 5pm-8pm on Thursday, July 16th at Anderson-McQueen, 2201-Dr. M.L.K. St. N. A Memorial Service will be held at 6pm on Friday, July 17th at Anderson-McQueen. In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to Suncoast Hospice.
