Richard Michael Stark passed away on Friday, May 7 at 1:00pm in his home in Eugene, Oregon. His wife Jessica, their two sons Wes and Jake and his mother Jeri beside him. He was the son of Jerilynn and William Stark, born in Fremont, CA. He was the brother of Donna Stark Garrison, Robert William Stark, Livermore, and Susan Stark Schall, Pleasanton. Rich attended Fremont Schools, graduating from Irvington High School. He started his career with Costco in 1988 at the age of 19 at the Fremont location. He married the love of his life, Jessica Perez Stark, on New Year's Eve in 1993. In 1994 Rich transferred to the Eugene Costco team and they moved to Harrisburg, Oregon with their 1-year-old son Wesley. Their second son Jake was born in 1995. They’d later relocate to Eugene in 2003. In 2006, Rich purchased a 1963 Buick Riviera in need of total restoration. He performed the vehicles entire rebuild in the garage. In 2013, he would invest in his lifelong automotive aspirations and build the shop of his dreams, complete with a car lift, in the backyard of their Eugene home. Inside you’d be sure to find fast cars, loud music and cold beer. He enjoyed spending his free time building cars, motorcycles, as well as always finding time to help his sons with their abundant automotive endeavors. The 1963 Buick Riviera has always held a special place with Rich and remained a family staple while many other builds came and went. In 2013 Jessica's 5-year-old cousin Bruce joined the family. In 2015 Rich transferred to the Bend Costco team and moved there with his wife and Bruce. Rich enjoyed many friendships with his Costco family in each of the locations he worked. Another hobby of Richards was going to garage sales, flea markets and swap meets. He’d search for profitable buys at bargain prices. If whatever he had bought was in need of repair he’d restore and resell it, using the net gain to fund his next larger project. This was something he learned from his father, although his father often kept the treasures he found, instead of looking for a profit. Rich loved regular trips to the Oregon and California coastline, becoming a tradition for extended family gatherings. He loved fishing and exploring the many lakes near Bend in his fishing boat, as well as visiting family in Lake Tulloch, California. Richard is survived by his wife Jessica, sons Wesley and Jake, adoptee Bruce, mother Jeri, brother Bob Stark & wife Carrie, sister Susan & husband Bill Schall, brother-in-law's David Garrison, Stanley Perez, Raoul Perez, sister-in-law's Rufina Perez, Jenny Perez, Teresa & Marvin Edmonson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
