May 7th, 1952 - February 27th, 2020
Richard Dennis VanHouten died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Englewood Community Hospital. He leaves his wife of 43 years and his beloved dog Margie. Richard was born on May 7, 1952 in Lodi, New Jersey to the late Edward and Sophie VanHouten. He married Catherine Conti on July 10, 1976. Rich was a member of Elks Lodge 2378, Loyal Order of Moose #1933, both located in Englewood, Florida, and President of the Oyster Creek Bowling Club. He was a seasoned boater, passionate fishermen and avid golfer. He loved taking long rides on his motorcycle. Spending time with his beloved wife Cathy, his sweet Margie, friends and family was his favorite thing to do. Rich was a loving and caring person, always thinking of others first. All will miss him. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 9 AM to 10 AM at Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 McCall Road, Englewood followed by a 10:30 AM funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church 5263 Placida Road, Grove City. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association.
