August 28th, 1950 - April 24th, 2024
Rick Dean Crandell passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, at the age of 73, on his beloved property at Wild Thunder Ranch, surrounded by the desert beauty he cherished so deeply. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on August 28, 1950, to Eldon and Eileen Crandell. He graduated high school in Lyons, Kansas, briefly attended Kansas State and dreamt of becoming an architect. He ended up owning one of the largest commercial glazing companies in southern Arizona. Rick had an entrepreneurial spirit and served the Marana and Avra Valley communities in his retirement replacing residential glass and screens. He loved designing and building projects in his workshop. He was a fabricator at heart and engineered creative solutions all over his ranch because he believed anything could be repaired and even broken things had value. Rick was a phenomenal skeet shooter, he loved old muscle cars and enjoyed all of the movie classics. He never missed an opportunity for a colorful drink with an umbrella or to spoil a beautiful woman. He embodies the quote, "It's not the destination; it's the journey." We will remember the traveling, vacations and road trip adventures he shared with everyone. He is survived by his son Matthew. While Rick may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in our dear memories and the lives he has touched. Let us take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, surrounded by the beauty of the land he loved so dearly. Because Rick was such a generous giver, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send donations to https://www.teamlizziebell.org/donate/
A memorial open house and reception will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 at 2pm, at Adair Funeral Homes Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave Oro Valley, AZ 85704
