Rick Lee Hunt

Rick Lee Hunt passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at his home in Elizabeth, CO. Born on October 1, 1950 to Bob L. Hunt and Alicia A. Hunt in Pueblo, Colorado. Rick’s memorial service will take place Saturday, August 22nd @ 1 pm. The memorial service will be held in an outdoor country setting at the Original Hunt Ranch Creek/Gazebo, 43160 County Road 17-21, Elizabeth Rick had an incredible work ethic and throughout his life founded several businesses including Big R Construction, Colorado Cleanup, and Hunt Ranch Investments. His love of land and cattle led to him create Hunt Limousin Ranches and drove him to make many land investments. He also co-founded Full Rut Archery Shop, which reflected his passion for hunting and the great outdoors. Rick was never a man to do things halfway. His family remembers him as a man always willing to throw parties with outlandish dishes and far too much food. His favorite activity was bow hunting. He travelled around the world hunting both large and small game. His favorite hunting destination was Africa. He participated in a wide range of other outdoor activities as well including horseback riding and ATV outings. Of course he never stayed on the trail. His adventures required trail bashing and taking the roads less traveled. Rick was an advocate for 4-H. He loved the Elbert County Fair and everything it represented. He knew the 4-H program dramatically helped form future leaders and helped youth develop responsible behaviors. He supported the local community regularly in both the state and county fairs. Rick also enjoyed family trips and reunions. He especially loved helping plan the tri-annual Hunt Family Reunions. Rick is survived by his children, Shawnea & Brett Wilkes, (Rathdrum, ID) Shannel & Wade Soderbeck (Rathdrum, ID) Shane Hunt, (Castle Rock, CO) & Nicole Hunt (Elizabeth, CO) Step Children, Devin Backes, (Utah) and Scott Backes (Elizabeth, CO) Grandchildren: Chantel Wilkes, (Coeur d’Alene, ID) Clancey & Bethany Soderbeck, (Coeur d’Alene, ID) Sonora & Jesse Putman, (Coeur d’Alene, ID) Alexis Soderbeck, (Rathdrum, ID) Sabre Soderbeck, (Rathdrum, ID) Clayton Hunt, Morgan Hunt, Logan Hunt & Preston Hunt (Castle Rock, CO) Mother, Alicia Romanin, (Parker, CO) His sisters, Jeanne Matott, (Sahuarita, AZ) and Brenda Elliott, (Littleton, CO) . Nephew, Caleb Matott (Midland, TX) Nieces, Angela & Shane Elliott-Paddie, (Golden, CO) & Heather Elliott, (Wheatridge, CO) Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly Ann Hunt and Father, Bob L.
