It is with saddened and heavy hearts we regret to confirm that Rickey Rene Knight has passed away from complications of COPD, on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 at 5:30pm MST at the age of 65, just 2 weeks before his 66th birthday. He died at home with his loving wife, Kay Knight and step son Darren Corey present. He is survived by 6 children,10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and countless friends and family members of blood relation and not. Rick was born in Denver, Colorado at Denver General on May 18, 1952 to parents Robert Hampden Knight and Alma Lee Stallworths. Survived by Dayann Knight, Alvie Knight and Marlena Knight. Rick has completed his life journey and has joined his parents and brother, Rocky Knight in Heaven. May he breathe easier. Rick grew up in Denver and he worked in transportation; as a school bus driver to an industrial hauler; he also had many other jobs from working in a pickle factory to restaurant work. He was a tough, old school, cranky old man, but he was loving and caring to those he considered close friends and family. Lived in the Denver Metro area his entire life, yet has resided in Westminster for the last 15+ years. He was married 6 times, yet always desired to be married to Kay. Who was his 6th wife and final marriage. Their love story is one for the ages. In the late 60s Rick was 13 and Kay was 11 when they met. They had a love child in the early 70s, Katie. Yet as life does, it just was never meant to be, Kay got married to someone else and so did Rick, and for the years to follow they stayed in touch, spending time together with both sets of children, his and hers and theirs, until 15 years ago when they finally got married to each other after having been in love for over 40 years. Even though the marriage of Rick and Kay only occurred 15 years ago our families have always been intertwined and shall be forever thanks to Rick. We will miss Rick, Rickey, our brother, our father, our grandfather, our great grandfather, our family member and our friend.
