Rita M. Ford, 93, passed away Monday, March 3rd, 2014. She was born in Princeton, Indiana and moved to Cocoa Beach in 1974 from District Heights, Md. Rita was a WW II Army nurse veteran and worked in Washington, D.C. as a nurse and nurse educator with the Washington D.C. Health Dept. Rita was an active member of Church of Our Saviour and volunteered with Birthright of Cocoa Beach as a nurse for over 25 years. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Joshua) Stark and Jean (Henry) Zehr; and a son Alan (Mary) Ford; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel, Alexandra, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Nicholas; and one great granddaughter Emma. Rita was predeceased by her husband Roland R. Ford, a daughter Carolyn F. Ford and brother Eugene Sebastian. Visitation will be from 5 till 7 PM Friday at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1PM Saturday at Church of Our Saviour with military honors. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery with her beloved husband Roland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birthright of Cocoa Beach, 5360 N.
